Schools must provide an orderly environment for students that are favorable for learning. A positive school environment contributes to a student’s behavior. A student must feel a sense of belonging to the school and this can be achieved only by specifying expected behavior from the students.

Classroom rules and procedures are laid for appropriate behavior from the students and teachers. Rules focus on the interaction between students and with the teachers. Rules are to be laid out at the beginning of the school year.

Find below the classroom rules that are to be followed in the classroom.

1.    All students have to enter the class before the class bell rings.
2.    Actions that disturb the class such as belittling others and speaking out of turn are not acceptable.
3.    Students are supposed to raise their hands to speak in the classroom.
4.    They are supposed to keep hands, feet and objects to themselves.
5.    They are supposed to walk in the classrooms and hall and not run.
6.    They must listen when the teacher or classmate is speaking.
7.    They must follow directions of their teachers.
8.    They must do their homework on time.
9.    They must come prepared to class with all supplies and homework complete.
10.    It is the responsibility of the student also to take care of school property.
11.    They are supposed to bring their own pencils and notebooks to class each day without fail.
12.    They must be polite, courteous and respectful at al times.
13.    They must complete all assignments neatly and on time.
14.    They can leave their seats only when necessary.
15.    They have to be quiet in lines, hallways and restrooms.
16.    They have to obey all school rules.

In addition to all these, good and appropriate behavior must be instilled in children like praises, handshakes, thumbs up, smiles. Fun activities can be arranged for encouraging good behavior.

When a well managed classroom with rules and a positive relationship with the students is established, the children are more likely to develop self discipline and learning will take place simultaneously.
